Junior League Celebrates 75 Years of Giving For the past 75 years the JLBC has been assessing community need, creating solutions and training women as volunteers to make Bergen County communities healthier, more vital places to live. During this 75 year history, the impact of the JLBC on Bergen County communities has been exhibited in many ways. In 1966, the JLBC and a group of concerned community representatives founded The Volunteer Center of Bergen County, and in 1998 Rebuilding Together – Bergen County was brought to Bergen County by the JLBC. The JLBC partnered with the American Red Cross and pledged $100,000, as well as provided a team to plan and oversee the renovation of the Hackensack Red Cross Chapter House. For 75 years, the JLBC has played a pivotal role in shaping our community. The Junior League of Bergen County, Inc. originally started in 1928 with 60 members and was called The Englewood Junior Service League. In 1933, the name was changed to the Junior League of Englewood when we were admitted to the Association of Junior Leagues. In 1962, the Ridgewood Area of the League was established. After merging with the Englewood League, in June of 1972, the League's name was officially changed to The Junior League of Bergen County. Happy 75th Birthday to the Junior League of Bergen County! |
