Done in a Day Projects

Junior League of Bergen County Done in a Day’s focus on short, intensive community projects that are completed in a single day.

Boys and Girls Club of Lower Bergen County

Our Sustainers have been coaching the high school students at the Boys and Girls Girls of Lower Bergen County now for over a decade for  the Youth of the Year program.  Youth of the Year is our signature effort to foster a new generation of leaders, fully prepared to live and lead in a diverse, global and integrated world economy.  We are pleased to announce, our Sustainers have coached their very first State Winner of the Youth of the Year competition in June 2024. Alexandra Pereira was chosen as the Boys and Girls’ Club’s 2024 Youth of the Year and was just named the 2024 New Jersey Youth of the Year! We are looking forward to coaching the 2025 candidates.

Family Promise Dinner Delivery

The Junior League of Bergen County annually supports the Family Promise of Bergen County Walk-In Dinner Program. This annual project involves both the community and the JLBC working together. Members of the community donate the supplies and ingredients via an Amazon Wish List and JLBC members prepare a meal with all the fixings. Family Promise has been dedicated to providing daily meals since 1991 and even through the pandemic, has not missed a day. Over the past 30-years, they have served over 1.2 million years and the Junior League of Bergen County looks forward to our next opportunity to work with them to help deliver on their Promise to the community.

Flat Rock Brook

The Junior League of Bergen County donated trees and pollinator plants to create a pollinator at Flat Rock Brook in Spring 2024.  JLBC volunteers spent a spring morning planting trees and native plants.  Pollinator meadows and gardens are extremely valuable habitats, providing floral resources, nesting sites and a protected environment for hundreds of bee species, moths and butterflies, and other insects.

Pathway to Self-Sufficiency Seasonal Garden Maintenance

The JLBC partners with the Center for Hope and Safety to seasonally beautify and maintain the Center’s Pathway to Self-Sufficiency. The Pathway is a small garden space located in Van Saun Park, NJ that honors and memorializes victims of domestic violence. This will be an ongoing project for the JLBC.

West Bergen Mental Health

In 2021, the Junior League of Bergen County renovated the Family Room at West Bergen Mental Health Center for Children & Youth in Ramsey Little did we know at the time, but our project would be the catalyst to a facility wide renovation at West Bergen Mental Health and later become the inspiration for the JLBC’s newest signature project “Empowering Environments” launched in 2023.

In 2024-2025 we planted bulbs, annuals and perennials at West Bergen Mental Health’s Homestead location.
